2014 ELECTION UPDATE: BIG TICKET FUNDRAISER FOR BILL FRICK IN MD ATTORNEY GENERAL RACE, LOLLAR MAKES GOVERNOR BID OFFICIAL

Voters are back from summer vacation, and campaigns are heating up publicly, and behind the scenes.

Delegate Bill Frick (D - District 16), a Bethesda resident, is having a big ticket fundraiser for his bid to be the next Attorney General of Maryland. Cash will be a must, as he takes on a formidable challenge in fellow Montgomery County resident Senator Brian Frosh (D - District 16), and Jon Cardin.

Tickets for the September 24 event range from $200-$2000.

Hefty turnover among the District 16 delegation - with all members save Del. Ariana Kelly running for either Attorney General or State Senate - has made the 2-wide-open seats delegate race the biggest one next to County Executive on the June 2014 Democratic primary ballot.

Current attorney general Doug Gansler is expected to announce his candidacy for governor in the coming days.

Republican Charles Lollar, a military veteran and businessman from Charles County, has started his gubernatorial campaign with a bus tour of Maryland. One of Lollar's first stops was Silver Spring yesterday. Lollar and Democratic candidate Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown could each become the first African-American governor of Maryland if victorious.
