CARJACKING IN CHEVY CHASE VILLAGE, BURGLARY ON WHITTIER BLVD. - BETHESDA CRIME UPDATE

A rare carjacking in Chevy Chase is the most alarming crime of those reported this past Thursday, March 13. It occurred in the 100 block of E. Melrose Street. Montgomery County Police report that an armed man ripped open the door of a black, 2014 Jeep Cherokee (MD tag 112142D) and pointed a handgun at the female driver, who fled the vehicle and ran into the home of the driveway she was parked in.

The suspect then sped off toward Connecticut Avenue in the Jeep. He is described as a black male, 5’10″ to 6’0″ tall, and approximately 20 years of age.  He was dressed in all-black clothing, and was armed with a black or gray handgun.

If you can assist police, or spot the vehicle and/or the suspect, please call 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Should the vehicle be in motion, call 911. There is a reward that could be worth up to $10,000 for successful arrest and/or indictment of the suspect for this felony crime.
