Bethesda construction update - JBG's Bethesda Avenue retail building (Photos)

Panoramic view of the site
JBG's new two-story retail structure at 4735 Bethesda Avenue has an extensive amount of its windows installed. Following up on my last report on the rooftop deck that has been added, I've been told by a source that there will indeed be at least one restaurant tenant going in here. That means more great outdoor rooftop dining in one of the busiest spots downtown, right next to Bethesda Row.

If they can get get the top of The Darcy lit up at night across the street, and finally turn the Woodmont plaza below into the public space it should be, there will be a great city lights view for diners up there. The facade also has a high-end look that fits well with the upscale Pottery Barn and Paul bakery diagonally across Bethesda Avenue.

This is one of the better looking projects in Bethesda lately, it's on par with the 7770 building aesthetically, thanks for the update Robert!

were the filters not working this morning?

Huge improvement. It will be exciting to see this spot in a few years when Purple Line and Apex redevelopment are complete.

This looks fantastic! Really hoping the lawn gets turned into a central area. Really really hoping Carr puts an entrance to their theater facing this lawn.

So glad it's Carr, not Karr!!!

Why are the timestamps on this site 7 hours behind EST?

Correction: 3 hours behind

Enough about Greenburg/Karr/Greenhill. We get it. You don't like them or their projects.
Go troll them on something of theirs. Call them. Write them. Sit in your office and write "I hate Greenhill" 250 times. Stand outside their offices and hold up signs. Write a song about your hatred of them it and put it online.
Just.Not.Here.

It's relevant. It's a persistent issue. Makes sense to be written about. Just like anything Dyer says.

Now we just need to get the crosswalks here fixed. This is one of the busiest intersections (for pedestrians) in Bethesda, and adding places of interest on all 4 corners will make it even more so.

What they should do is have one light cycle where all traffic lights are red, and all pedestrian crossings are on the Walk signal, and also add diagonal crosswalks. The intersection is not at perfect 90-degree angles, so the current setup, where cars can take lefts and rights while pedestrians are crossing, isn't very safe nor efficient.

10:27am it makes no sense to repeat the same diatribe every day.
It's not at all relevant to every local news story.

I hope 10:27am knows how nutty his remark is.. claiming it makes sense to repeat the same insults on every post. Get help.

Anonymous said...

So Dyer should stop repeating his same diatribe every day as well?

Elm said...

11:22 AM what diatribe?

9:38 seems to harbor some psycho / sexual hang up, compulsions uncontrollable. Needs help and an education and business experience.

@ 4:31 PM -

What "account"?

@ 4:31 PM, 8:33 PM - There is life outside of Twitter.

Anonymous said...

I just realized why @ 2:52 PM's syntax is so weird. He seems to think that this is Twitter.

You can type more than 140 characters on Blogger, you know.

It's a really weird thing that has repeatedly been pointed out to Dyer. He stubbornly ignores any mention of the incorrect time stamp. Maybe he doesn't know what to do?

Maybe he likes PST better. People have their reasons. Who cares? Add 3 hours.
Unless adding 3 is difficult for you?

8:30AM - I'm defending the right to use PST. If you had a blog and wanted to use PST, MST, or London time I would defend even your right to use whatever time zone you wanted to use.
You may be a complete douche, but you have rights too.

12:35 PM - slow day in Dyer's Mom's basement's subbasement, eh?

Anonymous said...

10:23. Thanks for confirming the complete douche comment.
Actually I'm sitting on my patio, watching the NASCAR race, drinking an ice tea, and sharing an apple with a catbird.
Obviously a slow lonely day for you.

Love how this building is gonna look in the renderings!!

A sad, lonely and troubled soul. I pity you, 1:02.

@ 2:58 PM - I hope you didn't eat that apple.

Anonymous said...

Robert Dyer apparently brings out the crazies just like his idol Donald Trump

Anonymous said...

Nope...just one guy who thinks he's "competing" with Dyer
One nut.

Anonymous said...

If it's just "one lone troll", then why does Dyer's shill respond obsessively to everything he says?

Anonymous said...

The anonymous nut/man child doesn't understand that it's more than one person responding to his fanboyism?

Anonymous said...

"responding to his fanboyism"

What is "fanboyism"? I've never heard this word before. And what does "respond to his fanboyism" mean? Using such weird language makes you sound... weird.

Anonymous said...

6:43 was pretty obvious in what he's saying, so either 7:44 is really dense or that's a pretty dumb comeback.

Anonymous said...

It's pretty dense also that supporting commentors think there is only one "lone troll" opposing commentor yet are incredibly defensive when accused of being one "lone shill".

Anonymous said...

I'm 6:43 and have zero to do with Greenberg/Karr/Greenhill. I know the names from signs in Bethesda and this blog. Never met Dyer.

What 5:33 doesn't understand is that I've got no skin in this game. I'm not shilling for anything or anyone. I read a blog and point things out. I have no problem owning up to anything I've written, whether on here or in person.

One lone troll. And a few rabble rousers.

Anonymous said...

@ 6:56 AM, @ 6:43 AM - Could you kindly translate your phrase, "responding to his fanboyism"? That doesn't really make any sense to most people who read it.

"One lone troll. And a few rabble rousers." Just curious, what is the distinction between these two categories? It sounds like you're trying to have your cake and eat it too.

Anonymous said...

Do you know Robert Dyee?

Anonymous said...

9:17 Just. Stop. Your stupid is making my brain cry.

You have to realize your fanboying is out of control. I'm wondering how it all began. Is it envy? Did Dyer take something of yours or something you wanted for yourself? How long have you been tearing yourself up inside over this? Are you seeing a doctor or therapist? This has got to have consequences for your physical health. Get a handle on it before it handles you.

Anonymous said...

10:38 AM - Are you My Little Fanboy now?

You seem to compelled to respond to everything I say, as well as many other comments by people whom you have assumed were me.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:00 AM - Actually I'm sitting on my patio...sharing an apple with a catbird.

One birdbrain talking to another. LOL

Bethesdan said...

Good point. What is the perceived grievance this man has against Dyer? What do you want from Robert?

Dyer is doing good here, bringing local news to Bethesda residents. Local affairs receive so little coverage from what is left of the old, legacy print media. Robert Dyer has stepped in, is attending the meetings, has great sources and is providing coverage of the retail, development and transportation beats. No one is doing the work covering MoCo like Robert Dyer is.

Anonymous said...

10:48 You ask me questions, I reply with answers to those questions. That doesn't make me a fanboy.
But in the wake of current things in this country, I can't help but have some concern for you. Try to stop hating so much...you know self-hate is the root of hate. There's such joy and beauty around, it's pitiable to see you so swaddled in misery.

Anonymous said...

@ 12:19 PM - Quit stalking me, you weirdo.

Anonymous said...

Dyer's Shill's dozens of comments can be reduced to, "I know you are, but what is my hero Dyer?"

Anonymous said...

@ 3:40 PM - True, but I think you meant to say, "Dyer's dozens of unsigned comments".

Anonymous said...

Robert Dyer is the one person who actually "signs" his tweets here.

Anonymous said...

@ 6:35 PM - One "tweets" on Twitter, not on Blogspot.

Anonymous said...

Hahaha. Nice.
