Bethesda construction update: West Lane Apartments (Photos)

It's called West Lane, but the West Lane Apartments will actually be located at 4901 Montgomery Lane in downtown Bethesda. Some windows are in place. Do you think they'll make the Spring 2018 delivery date at this point? It's definitely possible, but...hmm.

A seven-story building with 112 units (15% of which will be affordable), it not surprisingly has a walk score of 99, and is within easy walking distance of the Bethesda Metro station.

Building features will include a 2-level underground parking garage, a gym, a terrace bar, and the ubiquitous rooftop deck. SJG Properties is the developer, SK+I is the architecture firm, and Clark Construction is the contractor.

Thanks for the update Robert! Nice photos as well!

Looks like it will be a great addition to town. I wonder about the fate of the two remaining residential structures on West Lane. It seems to me these isolated parcels can’t easilly be utilized for higher density. I wonder if the owers held out a bit to long before selling to a developer, and are now stuck with nearly unusable parcels, other than as they exist. I suppose they could be added to neighboring developed parcels to increase their value, but options are now quite limited.

Reminds me a bit about the old guy’s house in the movie Up!.
